CCTV upgrade in a 5-star hotel

The project

The 240-room Park Hyatt Hotel in Melbourne engaged ADR Security to upgrade its CCTV system. The hotel's existing CCTV installation was a mess, consisting of three different systems using obsolete technology and operated from several different locations. We replaced this jumble of systems with an up-to-date, integrated GE Symdec DVR system.

The challenge

The hotel needed to maintain CCTV coverage without interruption. To achieve zero downtime, the older systems had to keep functioning throughout the installation of the new system.

While we were working, all the hotel's operations needed to proceed normally. Our work could not inconvience hotel staff or guests. While we were at work, a major public figure was a guest of the hotel, so it was particularly important to maintain an optimum level of security.

For example, as part of this project, we cleaned up an unattractive tangle of power supplies and mounted them on the wall, making the operations environment not only more pleasant, but safer as well.

Outcomes

The Park Hyatt Melbourne now has a state-of-the-art DVR-based CCTV system that is integrated at a single location. This makes it much easier for security staff to do their jobs effectively, and negates the risk of obsolete equipment causing a security incident.
