Access control and alarm detection systems in a heritage-listed building

The project

The University of Melbourne engaged ADR security to update its GE Challenger access control and alarm detection system.

Part of a refurbishment to the University's heritage-listed Old Arts building, the project involved adding new components and making other changes to the existing system, without interrupting system operation or the University's activities.

The challenge

The project had a tight deadline, but the University's teaching schedule was paramount. We worked with the University to ensure that the many staff and students using the building could continue without interruption.

Since the Old Arts building is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register, the project also involved an array of legislative requirements. It was crucial to maintain the aesthetic integrity of the building without unnecessary impact.
